Stricter environmental regulations and the increasing use of heavy, high-sulfur crude require the refineries to think about efficient solutions for the petroleum residues.

The Pörner Group as a specialist for residue processing and bitumen technology provides advice, design and development of complete technology concepts for an ideally hundred per cent non-residue refinery.

A Solvent Deasphalting (SDA) plant combined with a Biturox^® Bitumenplant is capable of processing various heavy residues entirely to become valuable products, such as DAO (Deasphalted Oil) and Bitumen.
 

At company-owned pilot plantsin Germany and Austria and in cooperation with research institutes we design complete plants based on process simulations. 

In this process the following components are determined: 

• various feedstocks (vacuum or visbreaker residue etc.)
• the product qualities of
  • DAO (CCR, S, V, Ni, Fe etc.) for FCC, hydrocracker, lube oil production
  • Pitch (penetration, softening point, density, flash point, content of asphaltene, sulfur and paraffin etc.) for bitumen production
• the optimal process parameters, yields and solvents
• the sub-critical and super-critical operating conditions 

Based on a comprehensive evaluation of all test and analytical data an optimized plant design is ultimately defined.
